December to March

The month of December is usually still good for sailing Komodo. At this time the sea is still calm, although it often rains at night. The first half of January is similar to December in terms of the weather at this park. After a busy Christmas time, in January there are only a few schooners cruising Komodo.Towards March the “Wet Season” starts. The islands of Komodo however tend to get less rain compared to the mainland of Flores. Komodo Dragons are very active in this time of the year. And although it is not the season of Mantas, you can see occasionally the resident Manta Rays around Makassar Reef and Manta Alley. Furthermore, these months offer a good chance to encounter good conditions in the rarely visited Southern part of Komodo.

April to June

In this time of the year, the islands are green and lush with the end of rainy season. You can see a lot of Manta Rays and Komodo Dragons in the month of June in this park. Plus, there is a good chance to see Whale Sharks during these months.The sea is usually very clear and calm in the month of April to June. The green landscaping of this area makes it a great time to visit this place. Make sure that you bring along your camera to capture the greenery of the islands.

July to August

This is peak season in Komodo National Park. Calm seas and favorable weather conditions make it a good time to sail Komodo. It can be a little more tricky to see Komodo Dragons at this time, as it is mating season for them. Make sure that you book cruises, accommodation and flights well in advance. Many flight, boats and hotels are well booked at this time and last-minute bookings will mostly be more expensive

September to November

The best season to go for sailing Komodo. It is Manta season, whale season, as well as Komodo Dragon season. Furthermore, you can spot sperm whales and whale sharks on their migration routes.
